We are making our first camping plans for 2009. We are going to go to Falls Lake Recreation Area just north of Raleigh, NC. It has been a few years since we have been there and look forward to returning for a quick weekend getaway.
This time the four of us will be taking along some friends of the kids. Lucas will be bringing Colby and Aislin will have Megan along. Shirley and I can’t wait for the first campfire of the year and telling stories around the fire. Mmmmm… I can almost imagine sitting in the wrong spot as smoke gets in my eyes now
This past weekend I went to The North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC. I went with a photography club and we were allowed special access to some off-limits areas. In the upcoming week, I will post a few pictures that I took.

OK. So we are putting this up faster than Obama can say, “Raise taxes.” I really just wanted to get this recording out here for you to enjoy. We look forward to your feedback and hope you will stick with use as we grow and become used to hearing ourselves talk. This episode is the result of our trip to the NC RV Camping Show. Please be sure to leave comments and feedback.

Today is a day of firsts. Our first African-American president gets sworn into office today. It’s our first snow in North Carolina for 2009 — It may also be the last snow day for NC in 2009 too Also, today should be the day that I post our inaugural podcast for campnfam.com.
So take part in American history being made as President-elect Obama gives his speech today on TV or commercial free through the Web at
http://inaugural.senate.gov/history/video/video-2009-obama.cfm Then come back tonight to get our podcast and hear Shirley and I talk about the 2009 NC RV Camping Show we went to in Greensboro.

I can’t stand it. We are finally going to get a cold snap down here. They are calling for the possibility of our first snow in a couple years this Thursday. With all of that, I am longing for a camping trip. To curb my appetite, I am going to the 20th Annual North Carolina RV & Camping show. At the show, I can imagine pulling in to my favorite camp site and stepping in to my camper for a cozy night in a warm soft bed. Mmmmmmm.
I am also really excited to meet some guys giving cooking demonstrations on dutch oven cooking. They are listed on the web page referenced above. Sounds like they will be fun to watch. I also am really going to enjoy watching them because I am trying to loose some weight and am watching the ol’ calories. I can just hear the pots bubbling, food sizzling and am smelling the food now.
Oh well, back to reality. If you live in the Greensboro, NC area come and see what they have too. The show ends tomorrow. Later this week, I will write a review of what Shirley and I see.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and was able to make the most of the time spent with loved ones over the their day(s) off.
My decorations are almost completely taken down and put into boxes. As I put material things away, I reflect on how we need to not box up the spirit of the season at the same time. We should not only keep the attitude of loving, forgiveness, and giving in our heart to keep us warm, but we should keep it out in the open and let it radiate its warmth to everyone we encounter.
Everyone, please keep safe as you make plans and celebrate the New Year. For those of you that make New Year’s resolutions, take heart. I heard on the radio yesterday that 45% of people who make New Year’s resolutions are able to keep them. The keys are to make realistic goals with measurable results and have a buddy system in place to help keep on track. Good Luck.
